About the Artist

i could start by telling you that i have had a camera in my hand since
i was 5 or that i could not imagine doing anything else other than
photography. but what i think is most important when hiring a
photographer is not only falling in love with their photographs, but
also the way that they view life. i have had many experiences
that have taught me how precious every single day is. how we have
great times and not so great times in our lives and truly celebrating
the best times is so important. my home is filled with photographs.
pictures of my two beautiful daughters, holidays and my own wedding, so on
those not so great days i can look at them and remember.

that is my goal when i am shooting. i want you to be able to look at
your photographs and remember when your baby first found her toes, your mother before she passed away from cancer, the way the sun filtered through your child's blond hair, as she played on the swingset your husband made her, or the tear you wiped away during your dad's toast at your wedding.

photographs are not just pretty images, but life captured beautifully through the eye of my lens.  before another moment passes, won't you call me to document this life, your life?  it's worth living, it's worth celebrating, it's worth capturing. i can't wait to meet you and document the life you were meant to live in a fun, chic and real style!

{Boulder Baby Photographer} Shelsta Family Lifestyle Session…

I don’t think I’ve ever met a happier baby than Selah!  She didn’t stop smiling the whole session, well except when we had her clothes off and the sun went behind the clouds.  Earlier in the day it had been snowing, and we even had a few flakes join us.  The weather is so erratic in Colorado, but I’ll take it any day over the “grey” that covers the East coast for months at a time.  It’s no wonder that Selah never stops smiling, as her parents Garret and Aubrey are two of the friendliest people you’ll meet.   Garret is an amazing musician, and will be launching his site soon.   It was so awesome when he broke out his guitar and harmonica and started to jam, plus Selah loves to dance.  This girl can shake it!  You can listen to his music HERE along with viewing the slide show from their session.  Now onto their images!  Thanks Shelsta family for allowing me to photograph your beautiful family!

Such a beautiful family!

It's hard to tell Aubrey's the mommy here ;) They look so much alike!

{Denver Wedding Photographer} Wedding at the Oxford Hotel, Denver, CO…

I don’t always get around to blogging weddings that I second shoot for, but this one is way past due, and a must see.  Not only was the wedding spectacular, but the couple was super fun and dashing too!  If you’re looking for a wedding photographer and I’m not available for your date, then I would highly recommend Jared Wilson, who I’ve had the honor of photographing along side for a number of top notch weddings, Ryan and Jessica’s being one such event, with florals and design by rockstar, Stacy Pisani, Denver wedding planner with Alexan Events. If you’re a bride, who loves the color purple, then you’re going to dig this wedding!  The couple was so laid back and a breeze to photograph, while the details and floral arrangements were easily some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen!  Now onto some of the details from the day.

Ryan and the groomsmen getting ready..gotta love chuck taylors!

Love this image of the guys!

Most adorable flower girl....aren't they all?

Here are the bridesmaids on their way to get formal photographs taken.  Charlie, on your left, did an amazing job on the ladies makeup and you may remember from Kevin & Kristen’s wedding.

Isn't Jessica stunning?

Love the slow shutter in this one...such a happy accident!

This one, taken inside Union Station is so much fun! Props to Jared for setting it up.

Some details from the reception!

Congrats Jessica & Ryan on a beautiful day complete with rainbow!

Margie - Shannon, great shots as usual! I really like the one inside Union Station, the posing and the fact that the bride and groom aren't front and center, makes it even more appealing.

{Broomfield Newborn Photographer} Meet Cashton!

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing Chad and Christy’s newborn boy!  It is amazing the difference from just 10 days old to almost 3 weeks makes, as this little guy was alert, strong and not the least bit sleepy.  We were still able to get some great shots, and after Cashton having to go to children’s hospital the week before due to troubles breathing, we’re all just glad that he is happy and healthy!  I couldn’t believe he was rolling from his front to his back already.  Watch out Pennick family, he’s going to be a tough one!  Check out his slideshow here! Now onto some images from their session.

We we're able to get one shot of Cash sleeping on one of Chad's signed Nuggets shirts. Chad used to work for the Nuggets, so we had get a shot of baby Cash representing!

Sweet mamma and baby boy!

I love when couples incoroporate their own creativity into the shoot! Chad got out 100 $1 bills for Cashton's session. AWESOME!

I LOVE this image! Daddy's so big and strong holding this tiny little creation, his son.

LIttle baby feet!

What a handsome boy...looks just like his daddy!

Gotta love boys...this was Christy's expression right after Cash went both # 1 & 2 on her. What a great sport!

Love Cash's face here! Chad and Christy it was a pleasure working with you and Congrats on your new boy!

Ray - Super cute. Cashton is a rockstar!

admin - Thanks Ray! He does know how to rock!

{Lafayette Newborn Photographer} Meet the beloved brother…

Christmas night I got a call that Ally was going into labor! Both Ally & Dave didn’t know that their third, and most likely last child, would come into this world as a boy, but they were certainly ecstatic that their prediction was correct!  Ally, although admits to loving her two girls, she states “There is something different about having a boy.  I just want to hold him all the time!”  Understandably so after you see these images of the sweet little guy!  Congrats Dave & Ally!  If you’re interested in having a newborn session you can call me at 720.837.4183 or drop me a line at  I would love to document your little one!

{Broomfield Newborn Photographer} Meet Isla…

Isla is one of the most laid back babies you’ll ever meet, plus she’s a great sleeper!  She’s 4 months old now, but when she was only 10 days old I had the chance to photograph a few images of her and her beautiful mamma, Erica.  Congrats Erica & Rush, she is perfect in every way!

We’re having another girl!!

A few weeks ago we found out we are having another girl in early June!  We couldn’t be more thrilled for Chloe to have a little sister.  I realize her birthday falls right in the beginning of wedding season, so that is unfortunate for me, as I’ll be missing out on photographing some beautiful weddings in the early summer, however I realize it’s only for a season.  Just like I missed out on skiing for a few days at Breckenridge this past weekend, because I’m pregnant.  Believe me I was pretty mopey when everyone came back from the skiing saying “It was the best day ever!”, but by the second day Chloe and I took to the pool, shopping and sled riding!  Here is an ultrasound image of our beautiful baby girl!  Only 3.5 months till we get to meet her…I can’t wait to hold her in my arms.

Doesn't she look perfect!

stacyZ - Sweetie I am so excited for you guys. I can't believe our kiddos will be just months apart! So awesome!

{Vail Destination Wedding Photographer} Wedding at the Arrabelle with Mark and Lindsey…

I realize I’m a few months behind on posting these weddings, but with the end of summer came training and finishing my first half marathon, which I was really excited about! Then I became pregnant with our 2nd child, then there was Christmas, and now after deciding not to sell our house and build a new one, I finally have a little bit of time on my hands. With that said, I was fortunate enough to photograph along the amazing James Christianson this summer up in Vail at the new Annabelle resort, which is a little taste of Europe right in Vail Square. Mark and Lindsey were married at the top of Vail mountain and the lighting could not have been more perfect! There whole wedding had a very Pacific Northwest feel, which was very unique to the mountain landscape, but none the less had the aesthetics, beauty and greenery  suited there wedding day like a glove. Now onto some images from their day in July!

the groomsmen...

Their dog's name is Chloe, the same as my daughters, good thing she was cute too! On a side note I LOVE Lindsey's green shoes!

I love Vail...the wildflowers were in full bloom too.

The view from the top of Vail is stunning!

These two are perfect for each other! Mark just adores her.

{Broomfield Photographer} Video of the factory girls living it up in the kitchen!

Each year, my girl Lesli and I get together to bake Christmas cookies, and this year was deemed particularly fun, due to my delirium brought on by a 5 am wake up.  There was much laughter and thanks to her we made about 8 dozen cookies to distribute to my neighbors and friends.  Here is a little sample of our “cookie mockumentary”, enjoy!

{Boulder Baby Photographer} Meet Gideon!

There is something so special about living among people in a community, where you not only call them friends, but family.  I’m certain we are one of many that consider this of the Wilton family, but never the less they are so dear to us.  Ally was there at my daughter’s birth, we often celebrate Christmas with a wonderful homemade Christmas eve dinner, our girls love playing together, and Dave could not be a better friend to my husband, Wade.  With that said, we got a call late on Christmas day with the news that Ally was in labor!  Being a transplant, like ourselves, to CO, Ally’s parents live a 2 day drive away, so with the help of many loving friends, we covered shifts watching her girls until her parents arrived tonight.   I was lucky enough to not only spend time with the girls, but also take them to meet there new baby brother Gideon!  They didn’t find out until Gideon arrived that he was a boy, but Dave couldn’t be more thrilled!  Also, his pride and love for Ally for enduring her third “all natural” delivery in just three years could not have been sweeter, and more sincere!    Below is just one of my fave’s from the day.  Congrats Wilton family!

Gideon David Wilton, a name that means "Mighty man of valor beloved of God". 8lb-1oz., 21 inch

Jill Carter - Shannon, what an incredible shoot!!! I felt like I was in the room, getting to experience all the joy and beauty firsthand! Beautiful!

Deb Ramage - Wow...Wonderful!! Congrats Ali & Dave!!

{Lafayette Wedding Photographer Trash The Dress} with Jackie…

Last week I had the chance to meet up with the uber sexy, styling and philanthropic Jackie!  She contacted me because, as she stated it, “I’m not the same person I was when I got married.  I went into marriage thinking that it was going to be a fairytale, so I had the big poofy white dress and the long train, but the day after wards I woke up and realized I was wrong.”  Jackie wanted a chance to wear her dress again, but this time, as a new more confident and radiant women.  Honestly, I haven’t seen pictures of Jax on her wedding day, but I think she’s even more gorgeous today!  I think all women should have a chance to do a “Trash the Dress” or “Day After Session,”  well in this case years after, but  sometimes I think it takes having the gift of marriage and years of growing and healing from our past to discover the true women that we are meant to be!  Now onto the photographs!

Jill Carter - Shannon, you captured the essence of Jacki... Beautiful, captivating, strong, and full of life. SO incredibly amazing!!!

Halen - Shannon, You did an incredible job capturing the sexiness and thoughtfulness of Jacki in these pictures! I love it! Brings back great memories of our session.... Halen

admin - Thanks Jill! I'm so glad you were there and you did such an awesome job on Jackie's makeup!

Raelynn - Shannon, these are AMAZING photos of Jacki. You did a fantastic job capturing Jacki's outer, as well as, her inner beauty!! Love it all. :)
