Colorado Children and Wedding Photographer

Kevin and Kristen got married on an absolutely beautiful fall day, October 18th in Denver, Colorado.  It was sunny and the leaves were at their peek, all the while Kristen looked absolutely stunning in her designer Vineyard gown from Priscilla of Boston and her cathedral veil.   Their ceremony was held at the Emmaus Lutheran Church in the Highlands with their reception at the opulent, art nouve, historic Brown Palace.   These two met at Kevin’s bar, Spill Lounge, in LoDo, so it was only appropriate to have their wedding in the city where they both work, live and first fell in love.

There were so many great images from their wedding that it was hard to narrow it down, so be prepared for a long blog post.  Check out their slideshow here!

Next week I’ll be in Pittsburgh running a fall “mini” family portrait sessions.  In addition to seeing some old friends, taking in the beautiful east coast autumn leaves and visiting with family.   We also hope to see a Steeler game while we’re back, but we understand that the Giant’s vs Steeler game is going to be a popular one.

We just shot an amazing wedding yesterday at the Brown Palace and I can’t wait to blog it!  Check back later this week for images from Kristen and Kevin’s 5 star wedding!  We also had several fantastic family sessions last week that I hope to blog too!

In other news, we’re expecting a baby in April!!  We are both thrilled to be parents and going to a friend’s baby shower this morning made me even more excited about being a mother.  I will be taking off 3 months after the baby is born and begin taking wedding commissions again in July.   This was from a few weeks ago, my 13 week bump!

No doubt autumn is my favorite season of the year, so when I found out my husband’s family was planning to come out and visit for a week at the end of September I was thrilled.   It has now been a few weeks ago, but some of the highlights of the trip were our trip to Estes Park, Colorado National Park in Grand Junction and Glenwood Springs.  We had a great time hanging out and playing games.  Wade’s new favorite is Settlers of Catan, although I have yet to win, so Farkel is still my fave.   Here is one of my favorite images from the trip.

In other personal news, we’ll be taking a vacation to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic over Thanksgiving and staying at a brand new resort that is just opening up this month!  I can’t wait to go snorkeling in the crystal blue waters and sink my feet into the white sand of the Caribbean Sea!!  If you’ve been to Punta Cana and have any suggestions on things to do, please leave me a comment.

Now I think I’ll go enjoy a cup of hot apple cider, yum!

The next two weeks I’ll be having a Fall “Mini” Family Portrait Session special for only $75!!  Full sessions are usually $250, so this is a huge savings!  Plus, with the leaves at their peak it makes for the perfect backdrop

I’ll be shooting at Chautauqua Park in Boulder next to the Ranger Cabin and the Flatiron’s from 4:30-6pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The following week, I’ll be in Pittsburgh and extending the special there too!  I’ll be shooting at Triangle Park in Sewickley on Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly Thursday from 4ish till 6-6:30.  All shoots are weather permitting, but it looks like a great week in Boulder and the following week in Pittsburgh is looking promising too!

Happy Fall!

Since autumn is my absolute favorite season, it only seems natural to attract other fall loving brides, such as Tiffany.  Last Saturday was the perfect fall day for a wedding.  I’m not sure if it was because the leaves were the perfect color, making it ideal for outdoor photographs or because Tiffany was marrying the man  of her dreams, but she didn’t stop smiling the entire day.  I think it might have been the latter   You can read more about their story here.   The wedding was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the reception was at the Inverness Hotel.  To view the slideshow of their wedding day click here.  Now on to some of my favorites from the day!

Tiffany’s mother, Kim took three classes to learn how to tie her dress properly.  Kim is one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, well next to Tiffany of course

Tiffany and Mark had a bet as to how long he would cry after seeing his bride for the first time.  I’m still not sure who won, but there were definitely tears shed.

Tiffany was devasted when she found out that her dog coudln’t be the ringbearer for their ceremony, so her dad went ahead and included him in the form of an ice sculpture.  Tiffany was thrilled!

Tiffany knows how to have a good time, as she was on the dance floor the entire night!

Yesterday afternoon, before we headed out to the Trace Bundy CD release concert, we stopped off at Twin Lakes in North Boulder for a great family portrait session with the Cormier family.   It was another fantastic fall day and because the family spends a lot of time at this lake, biking, running and walking together we thought what better place for their session!  Here were some of my favorites from the day!

This was one of the rare occasions that Quinn on the left offered up the perfect smile…thankfully I was able to snap this before it faded.  I love this image, as I think it shows the unique relationship between two brothers.

It’s hard to get the whole family smiling at the same time, but I love how this image is backlit.

One thing I learned yesterday is that sometimes you just need to allow kids to be themselves.  I think this image is  rather accurate of the Cormier family

This was another one of my all time favorites from yesterday.  Isaiah, like his mother Keely, is very smart, and at one point even asked if he could go back to the car to finish his homework!! His Grandma had just flew in to town and he wanted to spend time with her!  I hope my kids are as studious.  Although if they are anything like Wade, I think they might be.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of not only enjoying an absolutely splendid fall afternoon at the beautiful Chautauqua Park, but I also got to photograph the beautiful De La Paz family.  I couldn’t get over at how well behaved their kids, Sam and Elaina were throughout the session.   It made photographing them a breeze!  We had a lot of fun romping around in the meadow in front of the Flatirons, which made a great back drop.  Then we headed over to the park for fun in the fall leaves.  Thanks Manny, Suzanne, Elaina and Sam for a great afternoon!  Manny and Suzanne celebrated just celebrated their 10 year anniversary and were given a gift certificate for a family portrait session by the Cormier family, whom I’ll be shooting their family portrait session this afternoon at Twin Lakes in Boulder!   I couldn’t think of a more perfect gift!  Please call for more info on gift certificates, as they make great gifts for the upcoming Holidays!  Here were some of the highlights from the day!

Jackass Hill Park was just a few minute drive from the church where Tiffany and Mark were married this past Saturday, so we decided to take advantage of the beautiful views of the South Platte Valley and the beautiful open field.

This image was taken with my new Nikon D700 and 85 1.4 lens….I think I’m in love!  If you’re a Nikon shooter you have to get this lens….AMAZING!  Check back for more images from their stellar wedding later this week!
