We’re moving, and shaking things up!!

Hello Everyone!! I have some very exciting news to announce both for my business, and personally, both equally exciting!  This past Friday I launched my new business, Shannon Kaple Photographer.  I’m focusing on being your family lifestyle photographer, and felt that I needed my name to be more personal, like myself.  It’s been in the workings for a while, and where I’ll still be accepting weddings (which I still LOVE to do) I’m going to focus on photographing babies, kids and families, particularly in the Boulder, Front Range Colorado area.

Be sure to come on over, like me on FB follow me on twitter and update your RSS feed!

Secondly, as my family expands, so does our need for more space.  With that said, we’ve all but totally remolded our home since moving here in 2007, and put it on the market last month.  It must have been the perfect timing, because we received 3 offers in two days, the last one coming in above our asking price!  God is so good.  We’ll be moving next month a little further North into Boulder County, and closer to our beloved friends, and church community.  We couldn’t be more excited about our new home, and can’t wait to make our own.

Here are some images of our kitchen remodel.  If  your remember when I was pregnant with Audrey, and made this video, you can see just how ugly our kitchen used to be.  I’ll miss my orange kitchen!!

Pimp My Holga Workshop w/ Andy & Angie Wood May 5th…

What do I do when I’m not photographing, being a wifey, mommy, friend, playing Settlers of Catan or working out?  I am one of the founding members of Mile High Photography and also sit on the board of our soon to be non-profit!  It’s always very exciting, as we hold monthly meetings where photogs come to learn about everything from marketing to post production.  We also have several workshops parties & one trade show per year!  I absolutely love the photography community in CO and feel so blessed to be a part of the leadership team.  With that said, we are offering a workshop on May 5th and opening it up to anybody who wants to be a part!!  Check out the info below!

is proud to introduce to you our baby GIRL!!!

It was 8:15 am on Wednesday morning when I stepped into the ultrasound room with Wade.  It was the first appointment that I could get, and although I’m not a morning person, I couldn’t wait to find out the gender of our first child.  To my delight, the ultrasound image revealed a little baby girl!  We couldn’t be more thrilled, as I was secretly hoping for a little girl :)   She was very photogenic for her debut and posed it all types of positions for us, in addition to yawning, waving, and stretching.  I think we may have woken her up!  Check out her beautiful portrait below.

she kind of looks like an alien baby in this image, but I think she was waiving to us!

We’ll be out of the country starting tomorrow through November 30th on our baby-moon.  I’ll be returning phone calls and emails upon our return.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Where in the world is….

Shannon?  I dropped my cat, Joey off at my brother’s house in Boulder on Saturday for what seemed to be like the second time in two weeks.  Oh wait, it was the second time in two weeks.  Last time I left him there his roommate accidentally left the sliding glass door open and Joey got outside.  Being an indoor kitty he doesn’t get out much and thankfully returned quickly.   I then  went home to repack (although I hadn’t unpacked yet from Vegas) for our trip back East to shoot an engagement session and to spend time with one of my closest friend’s whom just lost her sister to cancer.

Yesterday’s engagement session was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in Philly later this year.  Look for images from their e-session and the incredible love story of how they met in Mozambique coming soon!

I’ll be out the office until Friday April 4th, but you can still reach me via email, as I’ll be working remotely through out the week.  Tomorrow I’ll be helping my friend Kim hang her solo show, having coffee with her and the very cool David Burke and then off to a PA PUG meeting or dinner on a yacht with my hubby, father and his business partner…..ummm decisions.  If I didn’t already know that they would only be talking about a new business venture I would be tempted to go to dinner, but then again I do LOVE boating.  When I was growing up it seemed like everyone had a boat, my  dad, his friends and all three of my mother’s siblings owned boats.  Nothing  beats being out on the water in the heat of the summer with the wind blowing threw your sun bleached hair.  Ahhh, I can’t wait for summer!

WPPI 2008…Vegas Baby!!!

The world’s largest photography convention in the US is less than three weeks away and I’ve been dancing around my house in utter excitement for this year’s festivities…..seriously, ask my husband, he can account for my craziness. I had an incredible time last year learning from the best photographers, shooting brides on the strip, partying like a rockstar and meeting some of the most sought after wedding photographers in the industry.

Last week I received an Evite to Becker’s Big Vegas Bash that is held at The Mandalay Bay Hotel. It was the highlight of my trip last year, so when I got another invite, I couldn’t help but to do cartwheels in my living room. If you haven’t checked out his B-school yet, you should definitely head over there….he has a different video each day that will rock your world. Check out this hilarious video featuring Joe Photo,Michele Celentano and Skip Cohen.

Powder Alert…

I am so blessed to have such wonderful family!  My uncle just gave us a two night stay at the Grand Timber Lodge in Breckenridge, CO as an early Christmas present :)   Needless to say I’m overly ecstatic.  We plan to go for a long weekend, so I’ll be out of the office this Monday and Tuesday skiing!!  Check back soon for photographs from our mini-vacation.  Whoo-hooo….the conditions are supposed to be great.   I love living in Colorado!  Click here to see photographs from the last time we went skiing in March.

WPPI Convention Las Vegas…

wppi

One more month and I’ll be in Las Vegas for the annual WPPI Convention
Wedding & Portrait Photographers International! I can’t wait, as I just received an Evite from Becker inviting me to his private annual B party where I’ll have the opportunity to meet who’s who in the photography industry! I’m super excited, as he is one of my favorite wedding photographers, next to Mike Colon and his beautiful red headed girlfriend Jessica Claire.

I’ll be sure to post photos from the event! Stay tuned.
