{Westminster/Broomfield, Colorado Baby Photographer} Evan turns 1!

Evan is what I like to call a little miracle baby, born two months early at just under 4 pounds!  Now he’s gone from crawling to walking in no time and all, so when his first Birthday came around & my neighbor Becky asked me to take a few shots of Evan I was happy to oblige!  We also joke around that he is Chloe’s boyfriend too ;)   On their first date, supervised of course, he gave her a foot rub & was also holding her hand!  Now onto some images~

Sooo Big!

Look at all those teeth!

{Louisville Baby Photographer} Lako Family Portrait in Louisville, Colorado…

Last Tuesday I had the pleasure of meeting up with the Lako family and their newest addition, Porter!  He’s already 3 months old and is making the funniest facial expressions ever.  I have to apologize, as I haven’t been a very good blogger lately, but I have a good reason, as we’re expecting an addition to our family in just 5 short weeks!  We’ve been busy preparing the nursery, taking birthing classes, attending 3 baby showers and several midwife appointments!  Wheww…getting ready for a baby is a lot of work, but we’re really looking forward to the arrival of our little girl!  I hope to post pictures of the nursery soon!  Now onto the Lako family portrait session!  To view the slideshow of all their images click here.   Here are some of my favorites…

They are such a beautiful family!!

Congrats Steph and Genae!  I had a lot of fun documenting your new family!

{Boulder Portrait Photographer} The bat cave with Jeremy & Sandra…

We didn’t make it all the way to the bat cave, where Jeremy and Sandra hiked to over a year ago on their first date, but we did enjoy the beautiful 60 degree weather we had last Thursday for their portrait session.   Jeremy wanted to do something special for Sandra for Christmas, so he got her a gift certificate for a portrait session from Center Avenue Imaging.  It made the perfect gift, as these two are are incredible together and from the looks of it are very much in love.   They met on NYE over a year ago and have been together ever since.  Sandra is originally from Peru and is amazing with kids.  Jeremy, is an gifted craftsmen and actually manufactured our photo-booth for us.  A special thanks to him for all his hard work!  Now onto their session!

Isn’t Sandra stunning!  She has the most amazing eyes!0009.jpg

We shot these in the morning and had some incredible back light!

{Boulder Family/Children Photography} Family Portrait Session at Twin Lakes, Boulder…

Yesterday afternoon, before we headed out to the Trace Bundy CD release concert, we stopped off at Twin Lakes in North Boulder for a great family portrait session with the Cormier family.   It was another fantastic fall day and because the family spends a lot of time at this lake, biking, running and walking together we thought what better place for their session!  Here were some of my favorites from the day!

This was one of the rare occasions that Quinn on the left offered up the perfect smile…thankfully I was able to snap this before it faded.  I love this image, as I think it shows the unique relationship between two brothers.

It’s hard to get the whole family smiling at the same time, but I love how this image is backlit.

One thing I learned yesterday is that sometimes you just need to allow kids to be themselves.  I think this image is  rather accurate of the Cormier family :)

This was another one of my all time favorites from yesterday.  Isaiah, like his mother Keely, is very smart, and at one point even asked if he could go back to the car to finish his homework!! His Grandma had just flew in to town and he wanted to spend time with her!  I hope my kids are as studious.  Although if they are anything like Wade, I think they might be.

Thanks Keely, Jason, Isaiah and Quinn I had a great time photographing your family!

If you’re interested in having your family session shot in the fall foliage, please contact us today, as we are running a special next week on “Mini Family Sessions” at Chautauqua Park!!  You won’t want to miss out!  You can reach me at or call at 720.837.4183.   If you don’t have kids, feel free to bring your pets!

{Boulder Family Photography} Family Portrait Session at Chautauqua Park, Boulder…

Yesterday I had the pleasure of not only enjoying an absolutely splendid fall afternoon at the beautiful Chautauqua Park, but I also got to photograph the beautiful De La Paz family.  I couldn’t get over at how well behaved their kids, Sam and Elaina were throughout the session.   It made photographing them a breeze!  We had a lot of fun romping around in the meadow in front of the Flatirons, which made a great back drop.  Then we headed over to the park for fun in the fall leaves.  Thanks Manny, Suzanne, Elaina and Sam for a great afternoon!  Manny and Suzanne celebrated just celebrated their 10 year anniversary and were given a gift certificate for a family portrait session by the Cormier family, whom I’ll be shooting their family portrait session this afternoon at Twin Lakes in Boulder!   I couldn’t think of a more perfect gift!  Please call for more info on gift certificates, as they make great gifts for the upcoming Holidays!  Here were some of the highlights from the day!0001l.jpg

I love this image, as the sun is peering past them.

Sam was such a ham and really enjoyed being photographed.

Aren’t they a striking family?  All of these images were taken with my new full frame Nikon D700 and 85 1.4 lens, which is amazing!  A must for portraits :)

Curt and Allision at El Dorado Canyon…

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting up with Allison and Curt this morning at El Dorado Canyon for their engagement session. Allison is so stunning and honestly reminded me of a 1950′s glam-movie star! She contacted me last month about doing a session, as they are getting married in Tennessee on May 17th, but wanted their engagement session to take place in Colorado. I had the best time photographing these two, so much so that instead of going out and enjoying the 65 degree spring weather, I decided to stay home to edit the images of these two very incredible people! Don’t worry, as soon as I post this blog I’m going out for a run :) We were originally going to meet up this afternoon, but I’m so glad we changed it to the a.m., as the lighting was AMAZING!!! Check it out for your self.

This was around 9:45, just after the sun peered over the canyon…yummy!

Then we headed over the bridge, but a few K-9′s wanted in on the picture too! I love this series. I’m not sure if Allison and Curt are dog people, but they were such troopers as these two passed by with their owner.

This is my all time FAVORITE image from an e-session ever! The lighting was perfect and these two are soooo in love!

If I didn’t know better, I would think that they are both models!

Thanks so much Allison and Curt, I had a lot of fun hanging out with you this morning. Best wishes on your wedding day! Keep in touch :) -Shannon

Red Rock…

Last Sunday I headed over to Red Rocks, as part of a larger group of photographers called Innovative Imagemakers. It is one of the most beautiful places to photograph. A few of us straggled from the group to explore our own image making, but all in all it was a great experience. Plus, it was gorgeous day. Here were some of the images from the day. Thanks to Tricia and Candy for putting this together and providing the models!

My fellow Nikonian friend RJ allowed me to use his lens baby, which is very similar to a large format camera with all the moving parts. I think I need one, thanks RJ!
