About the Artist

i could start by telling you that i have had a camera in my hand since
i was 5 or that i could not imagine doing anything else other than
photography. but what i think is most important when hiring a
photographer is not only falling in love with their photographs, but
also the way that they view life. i have had many experiences
that have taught me how precious every single day is. how we have
great times and not so great times in our lives and truly celebrating
the best times is so important. my home is filled with photographs.
pictures of my daughter and holidays and my own wedding so on
those not so great days i can look at them and remember.

that is my goal when i am shooting. i want you to be able to look at
your photograph and remember exactly what was cracking you up at the
time or why you were wiping tears away during a toast. because i
believe that the best memories are ones that are caught in a kiss or laughter.

{Colorado Wedding Photographer} Ceilo Wedding at Castle Pines with Kara & Eric..

A few weekends ago I had the pleasure of second shooting with the talented Jared Wilson of Jared Wilson Photography at Ceilo in Castle Pines, Colorado.  When I’m not shooting my own weddings, I love second shooting for other photographers, as it keeps me fresh and I always learn something new!  This wedding was especially emotional and memorable, as Kara had lost her mom to breast cancer a few years ago.  They did a lovely job of not only celebrating their love for one another during a beautiful outdoor ceremony, but also commemorating Kara’s mom by making a donation to the American Cancer Society for each of their guests.   Now onto some images from the day!

I love this image!

They also did a first look, which allowed us plenty of time for photographs!

Kara and her dad are really close and I love the look she's giving him here.

A toast in rememberance of Kara's mother.

I love crazy-fun bridesmaids..this one was the life of the party!

I hope you have a wonderful time in Ireland on your honeymoon!  Thanks for allowing us to be a part of your day!

{Denver Wedding Photographer} Brent + Victoria at The Manor House…

After a week solid of rain everyday, which is rare for Colorado, the sun broke through and it was the perfect afternoon for Brent and Victoria to tie the knot!  They had a beautiful ceremony in the foothills at the historical Manor House.  The views were gorgeous from every direction and included Denver, as the backdrop for the ceremony.  What was even more gorgeous than the views was Victoria, she was absolutely stunning!   Although Victoria’s family, who is from Columbia was unable to attend, due to their visas being denied, they were definitely there in spirit, and the friends and family in attendance made certain that Victoria felt loved!  Brent and Victoria couldn’t be more perfect for one another, and it was evident in the way they looked at each other through out the day.  Check back soon for their slideshow!

Kimberly of The Butler's Pantry did they incredible flower arrangments.

I love this shot that Wade got right after their first kiss as Mr. & Mrs. Johnson!

I don't think they could have been any happier!

Here is Victoria giving her mother in law a hug...so touching!

the groomsmen with Red Rocks in the background..

Check out some other additions to the bridal party...so cute!

being announced for the first time as husband and wife...I love weddings!

I'm not usually big on cake shots, but I thought this one was pretty interesting, my flash didn't fire & I got this gem!

Check out Gma & Gdad...they are way into line dancing! Most adorable Grandad ever, except for mine of course!

A special shout out to The Master Piece Mobile DF for spinning some funky beats!

They did a traditional Columbian dance called the "Cumbia", which was awesome. Victoria even imported the fabric and made these add ons herself!

Brent and Victoria, thanks for allowing us to document your special day in a fun, chic and real style!  I hope you have a wonderful time in Columbia and continue the celebration!

{Denver Engagement Photographer} Brent & Victoria at Wash Park…

Ok, so I’m not good at keeping up with my blog, which is why I’ve had these images simmering in their nice folder for some time now just waiting to make an appearance on my blog!  A few months back I photographed Brent & Victoria’s engagement session at Washington Park.  They have to be two of the sweetest people ever and met while Brent was teaching EOSL classes at church.  You see Victoria is from Columbia and has to be one of the most stunning women I’ve ever seen hail from her country!  So here are a couple images of the two of them.  Incidentally, Washington Park was the location of their very first kiss, so it held an extra special meaning for the two of them!  I love when couples incorporate a special place into there session.

I like this one because it reminds me of the old film days..

These next 4 are all very similar, but I love each of them for different reasons.

especially this one..very timeless!

Then their super fun dog, Floppy joined us! The name of my first dog, a german shepard was named Floppy too :)

He enjoyed being part of the action! Brent used to play soccer in school, so we brought out the soccer ball too.

I had a great time with you guys and congrats on your upcoming nuptials!

{Boulder Portrait Photographer} Baby Wearing and Bolder Boulder 10k…

This past Memorial Day I participated in the very first baby wearing Bolder Boulder sponsored by one of my commercial clients BOBA.  Not only did I wear Chloe for over 6 miles, but I also photographed during the events activities.  Although I did walk this event, it reminded me of how much I like to compete, so afterwards I started running more and now I’m training for a half marathon in September!  It will be first one and I’m very excited about it.  Here is a shot of me wearing my daughter compliments of my hubby, Wade.

{Boulder Baby Photographer} BOBA Baby Backpack Commercial shoot…

Last summer, after taking some time off to have my little Chloe, Robert, of Sleepy Wrap approached me about being on their creative team for their upcoming product BOBA, a baby backpack complete with foot straps and hood.  I couldn’t have been more excited, and now after several shoots and fully adopting all things natural from baby wearing, to cloth diapering, to making my own baby food, and I’m finally getting around to blogging their newest edition of the BOBA, 2G.  I simply adore Robert and his beautiful family, so after the commercial shoot I was able to get a few of their newest edition, Gloria!  I was hoping to get a few of all the family, however Nicoli, their youngest son, had taken a terrible spill and had the war wounds to prove it.  So here are a few from our shoot!  I love their newest color tweet 2G!  You can purchase your own here and all the images on the box are taken by yours truly!  There is even a rumor going around that you can find Chloe and I modeling on a BOBA  box too!

this image is too sweet...Mama wearing one while holding the other!

This is Elizabeth, the inventor of the BOBA with her daughter, Gloria...they are both so beautiful!

She is just adorable!

Congrats Robert & Elizabeth on your newest addtion!

{Estes Wedding Photographer at Della Terra} Brent & Lea say I do…

As I sit here I don’t even know how to begin talking about Brent & Lea’s wedding, because I felt like we were in a different world at the elegant and stunning Della Terra Mountain Chateau in Estes Park.  Not only did Wade & I photograph the wedding, but we were also fortunate to stay there too.  When we arrived there were warm cookies and the sweetest welcome gift from Lea & Brent…bubble bath and bath salts! Plus, the owners could not have been more accommodating and helpful during our stay.  A special thanks to Pam!

More often than not,  by the time I photograph my client’s weddings I feel like an old friend, Lea is actually a very dear friend,  dating back to our days in governor school and college, but you can read more about that here.  Lea’s sister, Carrie, is also my sister in law and not only made Lea’s gown, but hers as well!  She creates the most beautiful, awe inspiring creations, and if your in need of a custom gown for your wedding day, just drop me a line and I’ll put you in touch with her!  So being there as the photographer, and friend was an added bonus, seeing as most of the guests in attendance were originally from Pittsburgh, we felt right at home.  It was a small intimate affair with the most superb swing band, flowers, people, affectionate bride and groom and yes, ice cream cakes! Who doesn’t LOVE icecream cake?

I know most brides smile a lot, but seriously, every time Lea looked at Brent she lit up and a huge grin covered her beautiful face…that is if they weren’t busy kissing ;)   Ok, I better post these images or else I could go on and on about how ridiculously adorable these two are together!  View their slideshow here!

One of my most favorite gown shots ever…the rooms here were incredible!

Lea looked breathtaking!

Gorgeous!!!

Brent & Lea chose to do a first look, which I highly recommend for my clients, as we're able to capture some beautiful images!

like this one that Wade took...he's such a rockstar! I'm so lucky he puts up with me :)

this was my view...

then there was the lovely ceremony...

here is Brent's mom...

There were some tender moments in the ceremony, but there were also some funny ones too! I wasn't sure if Brent's ring was going to go on.

Minutes after being announced as Mr. & Mrs. Ertz!

I love this image that Wade took!!

Then the party freshened up back in the room before we headed out for some more images in the Rocky Mt National Park.

It was very cold in the park, so we headed back a little early to catch the happy hour.

Lea, being polish danced with her dad to the Polka...she was rather surprised when her dad took off on the dance floor!

Congrats Lea & Brent!!  I’m so thrilled that you guys are living so close to us…no doubt there will be more parties, hiking and girl time together now that your living here Lea and not in Montana!

{Della Terra Wedding Photographer} Sneak Peak!

I’m just ending my amazing stay at the 5 star luxury mountain chateau, Della Terra after photographing the Ertz Wedding, but wanted to share a little sneak peak with you before I go…more to come!

Lea is stunning!!

{Boulder Engagement Session Flatirons} Brent & Lea’s E-session…

Have you ever had a friend that you’ve known forever, maybe since high school or college and you wish that they could always be in your life?  Well last summer that came true for me, because a dear friend of mine named Lea has a  sister that married my brother, and now we’re pseudo sista’s in-law for life!!  I couldn’t have been more excited for us both until a few months ago when she became engaged to my brother’s good friend, Brent!  I’ve known Lea since I was 16 and we attended Governor School for the Arts, then we both went on to the same art school, Alfred University, and ended up living on the same floor a few doors down  from each other.  She is an amazing potter and artist and has had her work featured in many prominent galleries across the U.S.  Not only is she talented, but also one of the sweetest, most down to earth, beautiful people I’ve known and I can’t help to be just ecstatic for her upcoming nuptials at the Della Terra in Estes Park this weekend!  With out further ado, onto the images from their e-session a few weeks ago at the Flatirons in Boulder!

{Broomfield Family Photographer} Meet the Schleicher Family!

Yesterday I had the privilege of meeting up with David and Meggin to photograph their beautiful family at Red Rocks Amphitheater, also where David graduated from high school.  The place was brimming with families, hikers, bikers and of course us!  David is opening his own Pediatric Dental office in Broomfield at the Bradburn Village so getting family photographs to advertise with was a must.  We had so much fun exploring the park looking for the perfect place for a family session.  Now onto some of my favorites from the day! To view all their images click here.
